![]() ![]() Trust me, it’s worth it, as you don’t want to miss out on whatever upgrade they give you. If you choose poorly and your standing drops and you leave with nothing, reload your last save. The game saves whenever you exit your ship, and outposts also have save points at them as well. This is really one thing I wish I knew early, as I would shrug off picking the wrong dialogue choice for aliens back when I knew zero percent of the language, but far and away you get the consistently best tech and upgrades for choosing the “right” option and increasing your standing with the race. Save And Reload To Avoid Screwing Up Alien Encounters If You Have To Once you’re down to maybe 8% battery life, you can farm enough nearby Carbon to max it out.ĥ. Oh, and Carbon is the best thing to charge your weapon with, given how plentiful it is on most planets. I assume upgrades will also help with this system later on, but I haven’t found many yet. Get this pull and release system down, and you will be blazing through minerals in no time. Ideally, you want to let go at about 95% filled, because then it will drop instantly, rather than waiting a bit to stop flashing. You can avoid overheating (where the thing actually stops firing) if you release the trigger for even a half-second, then press it again, and then you can start mining from 0% heat, as the bar will reset completely. Omni-tool cooldown in this game is weird in the sense that you don’t have to wait for the meter to go all the way down once you get close to overheating. I like to start at the top and work my way down, either by going left to right, or slowly strafing in a circle around it, depending on the terrain. ![]() Hacking down a pillar or burning up a boulder take a lot of effort, but there are ways to do it pretty quickly. So I’ve told you what to mine, but how to mine? That’s a different story. I can’t tell you where to get the v1 blueprint for sure (it will be a “major” reward at some outpost at some point, probably), but use that space station door once you get it, and your suit storage problems will slowly become a thing of the past. It increases by 10K credits with each new slot, but it is absolutely worth it, and more reliable than hunting down drop pods in the wild. There are also v2 and v3 doors, but once you get the v1 chip, in practically every space station, there’s a door on the left across from the “main” door that when unlocked, will usually have a suit upgrade station where you can buy one more slot each time. A few hours into the game, I unlocked the “v1” chip blueprint, an item you craft that stays in your inventory that opens base level doors. You will quickly learn that besides your Atlas/Center of the Universe goals, the “point” of No Man’s Sky is more or less getting as much storage space as humanly possible, in your ship, in your omni-tool, and most importantly, in your suit. Once You Have a v1 Pass, Suit Storage Is A Breeze It took me probably half the day, but that’s not bad for a badass new ship, arguably the coolest thing you spend money on in the game.ģ. Originally, I was chasing some ultra-rare mineral on a super toxic planet that had an even higher unit price, but nothing beats a giant boulder in the end, and so far, this is the most efficient way I’ve seen to farm credits through minerals. Efficient mining (more on that later) means that should take no more than 20-30 minutes per haul. Like the Native Americans with the bison, you use every inch of the boulder, and if you can cram say, three 500 stacks of Emeril into your ship (maybe 2-3 fully mined boulders) that will sell for over $300K. This will usually be Emeril, or if you’re really lucky, Gold, both of which sell for a very high unit price in the galactic market. You’ve all seen the blue towers of Heridum on the map, but there are also giant pillars or boulder-like clumps of shiny stuff too, which you will see when wandering, or better yet, when flying low and slow in your ship. Yes, you can find all the Gek charms you want, and you’ll find “treasure crystals” here and there embedded with Plutonium, but far and away the best way to make money is farming the giant lumps of rare metals that appear on almost every planet. ![]()
